Note from the PastorI want to thank you for visiting our web site and taking the time to experience our parish and our parish family! It has been the desire of some of us here at St. Mary’s Church to have a vehicle for you to check in on us regularly, to see who and what we are, and why we are proud of our church.
Our church is certainly a busy one, and that means that many individuals have to give of themselves to keep our parish going and growing. We are proud of our full time staff—Linda Wibly our friendly secretary and the voice over the phone for those who call. Our maintenance people Bill Allison and Dan Kovachik can be seen daily around our church, our social hall and cemetery trying to keep all our properties something to be proud of. Linda and Dan also lend their voice to serve as cantors at every Divine Liturgy. All three have been members of our parish from birth!
Many, many others can be seen regularly here at the church they love. Saint Mary’s Caterers make weddings, high school proms, various parties and even mercy meals memorable occasions. Parishioners and friends regularly support our Bingo games each Sunday evening. We also have our Rosary Society that has its group prayers and Communion breakfasts twice annually, the senior members of St. Mary’s Golden Pillars gather the second Tuesday of each month, and the Greek Catholic Union Lodge #164 meetings are held quarterly. The members of our Parish Advisory Council meet to keep all running smoothly and aid in various important decisions; our ushers weekly collect donations and prepare the funds for deposit; and our Altar Servers faithfully serve at Liturgies each Saturday and Sunday. We are also happy to have two Sisters of Saint Basil the Great, Sisters Bernarda and Leocadia, who are regularly seen worshipping here as well as the other local Byzantine churches, visiting the sick and shut-ins, offering sympathy to those who have lost loved ones, and teaching the Religious Education classes for our youth. This is only a sample of all that goes on at St. Mary’s Church. Keep returning regularly to see what is happening, and please feel free to visit us whenever you can! |
